Apex Predator - Chapter 11
When the automobile arrived at the Qu residence, Shen Dai had already fallen asleep.
Lao-Wu, the driver, opened the door and stood silently to one side, awaiting Qu Moyu’s directions.
Lao-Wu is Qu Shen’s driver’s son who was particularly trained for Qu Moyu. He naturally understands everything because he had such a strong relationship with Qu Moyu. Despite the fact that the two are not genuine husband and wife and that he is only a beta, he did not dare to touch someone with the title of Qu Moyu’s wife lightly.
Qu Moyu exited the car, walked around to the side where Shen Dai was standing, bent his head, and peered at him for a few seconds. He then knelt and carried Shen Dai sideways.
Shen Dai had a wider skeletal framework than most male omegas, yet he was still light in his arms.
Shen Dai briefly opened his eyes in the midst of the swaying movements. He stared blankly at Qu Moyu before closing his eyes again. He appeared to be in the middle of a dream.
“Young master, did Mr. Shen drink too much?” Uncle Heng rushed over.”
“Mn, Aunt Lan, come help him change his clothes.”
“Should I make some hangover tea?” Aunt Lan said.”
“He can’t drink it right now, so let him sleep,” Qu Moyu said as he led Shen Dai upstairs, into the guest room, and placed the guy on the bed.
When Qu Moyu stood up again, he encountered some opposition. Looking down, he noticed Shen Dai had grabbed a corner of his garments. His entire strength was focused on the tiny fabric clutched between his thumb and index finger. It was light and cautious, yet obviously obstinate.
Qu Moyu frowned slightly, his eyes flickering as he pondered something. Finally, he drew his garments back with ease, saying, “Take good care of him.”
When Shen Dai awoke, he discovered that he had overslept. He normally does not need to set an alarm for work and may wake up naturally in the morning. However, he did not anticipate drinking excessively.
As he lay in bed, he reflected about what had transpired the night before and remembered what he had said to Qu Moyu in the automobile. He was so irritated that he wanted to smash his head against the wall. What was he thinking? The meaning behind his comments was too evident. He did everything he could to keep himself hidden in front of Qu Moyu, for fear of revealing sentiments he shouldn’t have. The easiest way for him to get along with Qu Moyu is to admire him from afar, without expectations, like he did in the past.
What do you think Qu Moyu would think now? Would he believe he is also vying for the title of top-tier alpha?
But it’s too late to be sorry now. He has no recollection of what he said thereafter, how he returned, who took him inside the home, or who changed his clothing.
However, how Qu Moyu perceives him has no bearing on their relationship. Qu Moyu, on the other hand, has never truly “viewed” him. These entanglements in his emotions were nothing more than his own fears. He consoled himself in this manner, which may be seen as combating poison with poison.
Shen Dai checked the time. He could barely work for half a day if he got up now and went to the research facility. Furthermore, he still had a headache. As a result, he just sent a message to Cheng Zimei and took the day off.
He woke up, took a bath, showered, and walked downstairs to locate dinner. He was so appalled by You Xinghai last night that he couldn’t eat anything and drank a stomach full of wine. His tummy was growling now because he was so hungry.
Uncle Heng’s countenance was weird when he saw him, “Good morning, Mr. Shen.”
“Uncle Heng, I’m hungry,” Shen Dai said, disregarding his cynicism. Is there anything available to eat?”
“It’s still an hour until lunch. Should you wait or eat anything first?”
“First, I’ll eat something.” “Anything will suffice.”
“How about a piece of cake?””
“Okay, thank you.”
Aunt Lan finally showed up with a glass of milk and two slices of green bean cake for “Mr. Have them as appetizers, Shen; there will be plenty of good stuff for lunch.”
“Thank you very much, Aunt Lan. Make less for lunch because I can’t eat too much after eating them.” Shen Dai’s appetite isn’t little, but his stomach isn’t happy right now. He just wants to eat something to make himself feel better.
Aunt Lan grinned and added, “When I changed your pajamas yesterday, aiya, you were too thin.”
“I’m sorry for causing you trouble,” Shen Dai apologized.
“It’s insignificant. What could possibly go wrong?” Aunt Lan gave an uncertain grin. “However, it was a bit difficult for the young master. Yesterday, the young master…”
Uncle Heng coughed gently in the distance.
Aunt Lan brushed him off, saying, “Last night, the young master carried you from the car to your room.”
Shen Dai was slightly dazed, which he masked by dropping his eyes. He took a mouthful of the soft glutinous green bean cake and felt a wonderful taste invade his heart. He had hoped to forget all of the unpleasantness that had occurred the night before, but now he only wanted to remember every single step that Qu Moyu took as he carried him.
“A-Lan, shouldn’t you go keep an eye on the kitchen?”” Uncle Heng prodded, as though frightened she’d say more.
“I’m not the chef.” Why should I bother watching it?”
Uncle Heng and Aunt Lan are both servants who have been with Qu Moyu since he was a youngster at the ancient manor. He brought them over when Qu Moyu got independent. Despite the fact that Uncle Heng is the housekeeper, Aunt Lan is the only servant who can defy him.
In a terrible attitude, Uncle Heng remarked, “Go check the time.” We need to give lunch to the young master a little sooner today because of the traffic.”
“There’s enough time, Mr. Shen, do you want to see the kitchen?” Aunt Lan looked at her watch. You never state what you want to eat, only that everything is great. Then you might as well come directly to the cook and tell him what you prefer.”
“No need this afternoon, I…”
“Come on, come on,” Aunt Lan said as she yanked Shen Dai up. “You’ve been here for so long, but you’ve only been to the living room, dining room, and your own room.”
The Qu family’s kitchen is disturbingly huge. It is separated into two sections: hot meals and cold meals. There was a locker wall, a walk-in refrigerator, and a chef and his two apprentices.
The kitchen counter was piled high with carefully chosen items at the moment.
“Recently, the young master has been tired of work meals, so we make food ourselves and send it to him at noon every day,” Aunt Lan said after introducing the chef. The young master has a mild palate, yet he consumes a lot of food. He wouldn’t have gotten that tall if he hadn’t.”
“President Qu’s work meals are also sent by the company’s canteen,” Shen Dai stated with a smile. Actually, our canteen is fairly wonderful, but it does get tired after a while.”
“That’s right, it’s impossible to compare with home food,” Aunt Lan told the chef. “Xiao-Wang, you have to be on time.” Uncle Heng stated that there would be traffic today and that he must leave early.”
“Okay, I’ll hurry up.”
Shen Dai reached for a scrap of paper on the counter, which listed the meals being prepared for the day. FfMd6r
“I wrote this for my apprentices to prepare for the dishes,” Chef Wang remarked. I might not be able to make them all.”
“Mr. Do you know how to cook, Shen?” Aunt Lan inquired.
“I used to cook a lot at home.” However, there were no constraints in the company dormitory for me to do so afterwards.”
“Why don’t you cook a dish for the young master?” Aunt Lan asked, smiling. Allow him to change his palate; it may save us time.”
“A-Lan, how can we let Mr. Shen personally cook?” said Uncle Heng, who had followed them in. Make no problem for Xiao-Wang.”
“What could possibly go wrong with making a dish, right?” Aunt Lan frowned at Uncle Heng. Mr. Shen, please.”
“Let me try,” Shen Dai said, his mind racing with the thought that Qu Moyu would be eating the foods he had personally prepared.
“Look at these ingredients.” You are free to use whatever you choose.”
Shen Dai couldn’t help but smile as she said, “I’ll make a shrimp tofu pot, it’s quick.” “Everyone in my family said it was delicious.”
Aunt Lan arrived to assist and whispered behind Uncle Heng’s back, “Put in less salt.” I’ll ask the young master if he observed when he returns in the evening.”
Shen Dai wasn’t sure what Aunt Lan’s aim was, nor would he speculate, but he has a feeling it was pure goodness.
With a single glance, Aunt Lan saw right through what he was thinking and stated gently, “You guys are already married.” Don’t be concerned with the cause; isn’t it enough to live your days peacefully? I believe the young master is also helpful to you. You should consider measures to make him feel better.”
“Thank you very much, Aunt Lan,” Shen Dai remarked gratefully.
Shen Dai painstakingly prepared the meal, garnished it with fresh and delicate onions, and then photographed it from various angles using his phone. Despite the fact that it was a handmade dish, the color, fragrance, and flavor were all present. It appeared to be extremely tasty. He used to have a wide range of hobbies, including photography, but because he was in debt, just work remained in his life. However, it appears that his abilities have not deteriorated significantly. At the very least, the photograph he shot of the first dish he prepared for Qu Moyu appeared to be quite tasty.
This shrimp tofu pot has been placed in a thermal container. It must have passed its most tasty and presentable moment by the time it reaches Qu Moyu’s hand after a difficult voyage. If he ever has the chance to discuss the flavor of this food with Qu Moyu, he will pull out these photos and show Qu Moyu the dish in its most ideal condition. The small delight and expectation at the bottom of his heart get wildly enlarged.
Shen Dai heard the sound of Qu Moyu’s automobile at ten o’clock in the evening. His back hurt from all the hunting for information he’d done all day. He’s been working on this SCI for about a year, and numerous key experimental results have still to be proved. He was trapped in agony. He stood up and walked over to the window. He extended his lower back and peered through the curtain at Qu Moyu.
When he heard Qu Moyu approach the door, he paused for a second before going downstairs to apologize and thank him for what had transpired the night before.
He heard Qu Moyu reprimand him in hushed tones as soon as he opened the door, “Don’t let him cook again, what were you thinking?””
Shen Dai became immobilized. He overheard Aunt Lan say something quietly. He couldn’t hear her properly, but her tone was plainly irritated.
There were then some footsteps.
Shen Dai took two steps back and closed the door gently. It did not disappoint. After all, this was the logical progression. Qu Moyu ate his food, which was already rather tasty. What more could he ask for, a five-star rating? He couldn’t understand why Qu Moyu had to chastise Aunt Lan. This simply made him feel humiliated in front of Aunt Lan.
He completed his meal as usual, put on his luggage, retrieved his bike from the subterranean parking lot, and prepared to go to work.
When he got outside, he ran into Aunt Lan, who stared at him with suspicion. He pretended that nothing had happened the day before since she never addressed it.
Uncle Heng was watering the flowers as he wheeled his bike across the courtyard. When he spotted him, he approached him and said, “Good morning, Mr. Shen.”
“Good day, Uncle Heng. You keep working, and I’ll leave.”
“Mr. Uncle Heng asked, “Can I tell you a few things, Shen?””
Shen Dai instinctively didn’t want to hear these things, yet he couldn’t run away. He could only park his bike and stare quietly at Uncle Heng.
“When the young master returned last night, A-Lan informed him that you had cooked for him.” The young master was displeased and reprimanded A-Lan. A-Lan raised the young master since childhood, and the young master never talked loudly to her.”
Shen Dai dropped his gaze and waited for him to proceed.
“A-Lan never got much education and has always worked in the mansion,” Uncle Heng said gently. She is a humble woman who has been caring for the young master for over 20 years. There is nothing to criticize about the way she manages his everyday life.
She is unaware, however, that she and the young master are not from the same universe. We can’t use her ideas to try to get into the young master’s head. She’d have no idea why the young master was upset if I hadn’t told her.”
“What do you want to say?” Shen Dai said gently.”
“You were educated, and you’re extremely intelligent.” In reality, you most likely already know everything. Because of his fineness, the young master is just polite to you. The young master, on the other hand, does not want you to have any preconceived notions about him. He’ll be worried.”
Shen Dai’s cheeks erupted in a rush of heat. His hand automatically desired the enormous pocket of his lab coat, but the sweater on his torso had no pockets, leaving him befuddled.
“Please don’t think I’m harsh,” Uncle Heng groaned. From working with you at this time, I know you’re a pretty good guy. I care about you and don’t want you to be hurt. The world of top-tier alphas is beyond the comprehension of regular individuals like ourselves. There are a lot of individuals that appreciate the young master, but he doesn’t need anybody in particular; he only wants to locate the most important assistance for him in the future.”
