Apex Predator - Chapter 5
“Okay,” Shen Dai murmured huskily, “I’ll listen to your arrangements.”
“Have you had dinner?” Qu Moyu said, satisfied.”
“Not quite yet.”
“Then go after dinner.” Inform Uncle Heng about your preferences.”
“Yes, thank you, President Qu.”
A faint and ephemeral aroma entered Shen Dai’s nose as Qu Moyu stood up. People felt a powerful sense of strength from the calm, dry, slightly astringent thick hardwood smell. This was Qu Moyu’s ebony pheromone, which matched his aura perfectly.
This aroma brought back vivid recollections of Shen Dai.
He was drugged three years ago by a senior who competed with him for a spot in the talent plan. It ended up making him hot. The inhibitor he was carrying entirely failed. He toiled in the laboratory, tormented to the point where his logic was nearly spent. He wanted to grab any alpha he could and alleviate his body’s basic instinct.
His pheromones have the fragrance of epiphyllums, hence his body has certain epiphyllum-like traits. A regular omega, for example, goes through heat four times a year for an average of seven days, whereas he only comes once or twice a year for three or four days. His pheromones usually have a very mild aroma. After applying the pheromone patch to his glands, he becomes so weak that he is sometimes misidentified as a beta. When he is in heat, however, his pheromone concentration is several times higher than that of typical omegas.
He also utilizes a larger dose of inhibitors than the average person. It came on too strong after being drugged, and he had no control over it.
He thought he was done for at the time. He got into an argument in a public area, and it was also the laboratory where he worked. His body, future, reputation, dignity, and everything else will be ruined. Half of the research center was infected by the pleasant aroma of epiphyllums. Several alphas were about to lose control.
They would have raced in if it hadn’t been for the impediment of numerous beta comrades. Qu Moyu happened to be examining research institutions under the corporation at the time. The 21-year-old heir had recently returned from a prestigious institution in another country and had formally joined the corporation to sharpen his talents. Only S-level alphas who had been subjected to rigorous pheromone management training since infancy were able to withstand the temptation of the omega in heat.
Qu Moyu approached him, terrified yet eager. He shook with anxiety, yet he gripped the man hard. He really wanted to take something from the other to relieve his suffering, but the other held his body still and comforted him softly next to his ear. He was so disoriented that he couldn’t make sense of anything. He merely felt that the voice was like a clear spring pouring through him, which relieved some of his anxiousness. He then inhaled the ebony pheromones.
It was strong, calm, forgiving, and prudent. It immediately corroded his mind and purged his spirit. It was like a lighthouse amid the immense turmoil, guiding him with its high light. He delighted in releasing his pheromones to seek his light. He could sense the entanglement and adhesion of epiphyllum and ebony in the air, where stiffness and softness coexist.
He was certain that the lighthouse was also trembling in the wind and rain; it hesitated and wavered for a moment before stabilizing its foundation and suppressing him with its pheromones. Following that, he had a searing ache in the back of his neck. Qu Moyu gave him a temporary mark to calm him down. When the emergency response team arrived, he was tranquilized with a tranquilizer shot.
He wouldn’t have had such a strong attachment to the person who rescued him if he hadn’t been in such profound misery. Qu Moyu just gave him a momentary mark, but it was etched in his heart. He knew the two would never connect again since he was too old to be dreaming. He dismissed it as a chance meeting and suppressed his desires. He will only cast distant glances, which will be full of excitement.
Qu Moyu was ignorant of his lawful wife’s sentiments as she stood by him. “In the evening, someone will take your measurements to order some formal clothes,” he explained. My father’s birthday dinner is coming up in a few days, and I need to take you home.” He then went upstairs without looking back.
Shen Dai packed some clothing and daily needs from his dormitory after returning to the research institute. He didn’t need to pack anything because the guest room looked to have everything. Looking around his modest dormitory, which wasn’t even as big as a specific person’s bathroom, he felt comfortable. That area, Qu Moyu’s house, gives him the creeps.
The Qu family’s driver came to pick him up after work. Uncle Heng was also in the car, and he had come to take him to an exclusive club where suits are customized.
When Uncle Heng corresponded with the tailor, Shen Dai also made certain demands regarding fabric and thread selection. He is on the slender side, therefore woolen threads might help him feel more stable.
Uncle Heng cast an astonished gaze at Shen Dai. He probably felt Shen Dai didn’t appear like someone who could create suits because he was generally dressed in plain commuter casual attire.
Shen Dai could see through his gaze yet remained quiet. He seldom had emotional ups and downs due to individuals he didn’t care about, and he could appreciate Uncle Heng’s amazement. He grew raised in a home filled with a creative environment and passionate impulses. Although not lavish, clothing costs were of good quality. However, he got so impoverished in recent years that he began to pay less attention. Furthermore, as he grew older, he began to oppose excellent literature and art from the bottom of his heart. He selected engineering without hesitation in university. He didn’t dislike his upbringing, but he witnessed his father growing up in that sort of home into a naïve, selfish, ignorant ingrate.
His grandparents’ parenting style, he felt, was designed to be forgiving and pleasant. They pushed youngsters to explore and live out their romantic hymns, beauty, and love aspirations. This education, however, lacked responsibility and practicality. As a result, his father turned into a greedy, whimsical idiot eager for love. He felt his love for the affluent young master was strong when he was young, but he subsequently discovered that the other was a scumbag. He forced himself to give birth even after being abandoned. Later, he believed he had discovered genuine love with a liar and betrayed his family. He took everything and used it as collateral for the others. In comparison to You Xinghai, Whom Shen Dai had only seen twice in his life, he detested and despised a hundred times more.
Shen Dai examined himself in the mirror but scowled because he detected some resemblances to his father’s visage.
Shen Dai used a cab and the subway to get around for the following three days. Even though it was more difficult than previously, he didn’t have to punch in, and the hours were pretty unrestricted. He was also debating whether to buy an inexpensive scooter.
On Saturday night, he changed into his new outfit and sat calmly in the living room, waiting. He stepped out the door and into the Phantom Extended outdoors till Uncle Heng notified him.
Qu Moyu was reading paperwork in the automobile. He was dressed formally in a suit with leather shoes. The high-quality materials and tailoring match his tall and muscular frame nicely. His skin was so flawless that it glistened. Every single line on his face is steep and lovely, from the bone of his brows to his nose and finally to his jaw.
Even his hair stands are neatly arranged in the proper position. Every frame is a finely crafted picture, noble and lovely. The back seat’s backplate was entirely lowered, giving him a comfortable and large private room. This appeared to be his mobile workplace.
The aroma of his black pheromones fills such a place naturally.
Shen Dai entered quietly, “Hello President Qu.”
Qu Moyu lifted his head and glanced at Shen Dai, his pupils temporarily halted, and said, “The clothes fit very well.”
“Yes.”
The automobile began to move. Qu Moyu glanced at paperwork half the way there, but Shen Dai gazed out the window — it’s unpleasant to play with his phone in front of his employer.
Qu Moyu then altered his seating posture and closed the paperwork.
Shen Dai recognized Qu Moyu had something to say and moved his body slightly towards him.
“I’m taking you home today, and this will be your first official meeting with my family.” You don’t have to be concerned. Simply respond to whatever the elders asked. You don’t need to say much, don’t take the effort to speak, and simply be courteous and smile.”
“Understood.”
“I have a cousin.” Qu Moyu hesitated quickly, “He might ask you a lot of questions and even purposefully make things difficult for you.” Avoid him as much as possible. In sum, we can’t discuss our ‘cooperative relationship’ because our elders don’t want to see us argue.”
Shen Dai couldn’t grasp what was being said but could only assent.
“You’ll need to know sooner or later, so I’ll tell you a few things ahead of time,” Qu Moyu observed Shen Dai’s perplexity. “You should have heard the saying that it’s extremely lucky if there’s an S-level alpha in the family, but a complete disaster if there are two,” he replied quietly. My cousin is our family’s second S-level alpha, and he marked my fiancee.”
Shen Dai grasped everything right away.
Simply said, the connection between an S-level alpha and another S-level alpha is like saying that one mountain cannot support two tigers.
The Alpha gender is the most aggressive and competitive. They were born inherently aggressive, with a thirst to conquer and an insatiable craving for power. Alphas with S-level pheromones are the natural kings who rule the human food chain. Almost all of them are attractive, have powerful bodies, and are wise. They also have pheromone suppression as a biological weapon. They are genetic dividend predators who control the majority of the world’s resources and riches.
The majority of individuals who may reach the pinnacle in many disciplines are S-level alphas; they are the uncrowned kings and emperors of our secularized society. They’re also known as The Top Predators across the world.
Such exceptional genes are, of course, quite rare. The simultaneous arrival of two in a family signifies that they will have to endure painful internal rivalry for the rest of their lives until the ultimate victor is selected.
Shen Dai’s scalp immediately went numb.
