Summary
I ended up in a romance novel. Well, not as the heroine; I’m just a minor character, doomed to die at the hands of a traitor. What makes it worse, this is a 19+ novel. ‘This could not be worse,’ I thought. Determined to change my fate, I decided to stop the rebellion. But, in the story, my character had a perverted relationship with the future traitor and had wronged him in the worst possible way. I wanted to assuage the guilt so I decided to set him free. “Impossible. Betrayal awaits.”
A Stained Relationship
Compassion is something that has turned a thousand times darker than one can ever think of. Along with the unfolding story, the guard and protectorship between the guy lead and the protagonist just got far too complicated and twisted.
Male protagonist deserted/abandoned by custodians or caretakers who have entrusted their custody and protection:
His Role: The MC adopts him and instructs him that good people do exist. The Turning Point: As he ages, love for her is transformed into an obsession. Gratitude turns into being possessive. She isn’t his savior; she is now a prisoner.
Tale of pure unbridled love: This is no redemption tale by any stretch of the imagination, not along those lines, at least. Instead, it is a dark, psychological romance in which love is as much a curse as a blessing.
It makes him his strongest attribute but at the same time, remains his final weakness. At one point, love sees this guy blurring-eyed enough that it propels him towards extreme actions. Survival vs. Love: This heroine’s love for him cannot be completely separated from her instinct to survive. Can she afford to love him or only run? Conclusion: I’m Imprisoned by the Mad Dog I Raised” is a story where love is not the silken force for healing but choking, destructive, and suffocating. The depth of the psychosocial relationship of the characters makes it rich with tension always, leaving the reader with suspense over whether the protagonist will be able to free herself from the demonic creature she unwittingly created.
